Yasmin is a multi-platform journalist at BBC News who has a diverse background reporting on politics, technology and the arts. She is currently a culture and entertainment reporter.

Yasmin studied Politics and Spanish at Durham University and began her career in Investment Banking before transitioning into journalism as a tech reporter for CNBC News.

She then joined the Evening Standard as a features writer, where she became one of the youngest theatre critics and played a key role in boosting the paper's digital presence with a successful cooking series on social media.

In 2023, Yasmin moved to BBC London where she predominately reported on politics and has covered major political events including the General Election, Mayoral Election and the ULEZ expansion.

Her stories include an investigation into potential Russian involvement in the London Mayoral Election, an exclusive interview with anti-Ulez vigilantes known as a ‘blade runners’ and an Instagram election series on issues affecting young Londoners.

Yasmin is now a culture, arts and entertainment reporter for BBC News and mainly covers theatre, film, books and social trends. Her original features are frequently the most-read on the BBC News website and she specialises in stories that connect with a youth, female and diverse audience. 

Her interviews with celebrities including Blake Lively, Lady Gaga, Sofia Vergara and Skepta have been broadcast on BBC Breakfast, BBC News at Six and Ten and Today programme.

 She has experience reporting live from film premieres and award ceremonies and presents culture news on TikTok and Instagram. 

She is also a John Schofield Trust fellow for 2024 and was shortlisted for New Journalist of the Year in the British Journalism Awards 2024.

Yasmin is fluent in Italian and Spanish.
